Food for Friends![]() Volunteers from around the Birmingham Baptist Association spend a part of their Thanksgiving holiday weekend ministering to others in the community through Food for Friends, the Association’s annual feeding and clothing program. The ministry four days, starting Thanksgiving morning, serving four breakfasts and two lunch meals to some of the area’s most needy. Approximately 2,500 meals are served over the weekend. The people receiving meals also have the opportunity to pick out some clothing from donated items, plus receive free flu shots. The volunteers cheerfully offer hands carrying plates to tables, stirring large pots of grits, cracking dozens after dozens of eggs, washing dishes, sorting clothes, pouring cups of coffee and hot chocolate, and numerous other tasks.
