2002 Tournament
Under clearing skies, 69 players headed out to play in the second annual Birmingham Baptist Association-Baptist Health System Golf Tournament at Altadena Valley Country Club on Sept. 30, 2002.
The day was Herman Johnson’s birthday. He and his teammates began playing on the fifth hole of the "shotgun start" event. The 73-year-old took his first drive of the tournament; the ball bounced once and went into the hole.
Although other players on the course didn’t hit a shot quite like Herman’s birthday present, the group had an enjoyable time of playing and fellowship on a wonderful day to be outside.
We would especially like to thank Paul Lawson of Baptist Health Foundation for all his work in coordinating the event. Congratulations to BHS’s winning team of Holt, Watson, Throneberry, and Ruff.
The proceeds of the tournament will be used for global missions.
