Advance Directive/Living WillRecently, at the BBA Ministers’ Conference, a panel discussion on "Ethical Decision Making in Times of Life-Changing or Life-Threatening Circumstances" was presented. The program was led by a team from Baptist Health System. The topic generated a lot of interest about addressing future family health needs. In response to that interest, we are providing access to A Gift to Your Family, a consumer guide developed by the State Bar, Medical Association, and Hospital Association of Alabama. It is hoped this guide will assist you in making important health care decisions related to Advance Directives (Living Wills and Health Care Powers of Attorney), Health Care Proxy or Organ Donation. The guide may be downloaded using the link on this page, or you may get a copy from the BBA office. If we at Baptist Health System may assist you in addressing ethical questions or in finding ethical resources, please call us. In Pastoral Care, you may call Pat Pruitt (592-1390) or Stephanie Wyatt (783-3493). They will take your question or concern and have someone get back in touch with you to address your need. We are here to support your healthcare concerns. We welcome the opportunity to assist you as you make important decisions about your family’s future health needs. Our prayer is that the Lord will grant you clear thinking for your decisions, strength for your journey, and a continuing hope through your faith in Christ. Rev. Ed Richardson, D.Min.
